ABOUT P.L. LIGHT SYSTEMS

The Lighting Knowledge
Company, since 1981

For over 45 years, P.L. Light Systems has engineered horticultural lighting for commercial greenhouses, vertical farms, and indoor cultivators across North America.

We are horticultural lighting specialists, not a fixture reseller.

How we work

P.L. Light Systems specifies, sources, and engineers horticultural lighting for commercial growers. Every LED fixture is DLC Horticultural Certified and CSA-listed. Every light plan is modeled with professional light planning software against a real room and location. We don't resell what we don't engineer.

HOW WE WORK

Engineering, end to end

A commercial fixture is engineered across four disciplines: photometric, thermal, optical, and mechanical. Every one matters. The work spans custom light plans and calculations, mounting solutions, and new product development. A light plan isn’t a photometric drawing; it’s a system design that ships only after all four hold up. The four stages below are how every P.L. Light Systems deployment moves from brief to operating facility.

Photometric
Thermal
Optical
Mechanical
01
Discover

Understand the facility
and the crop

Room dimensions, mounting heights, greenhouse glazing, crop stage strategy, DLI targets, power constraints, geography, and budget. Every project starts with the specifics of your operation. We build the complete brief before we quote a single fixture.

02
Design

Engineer the custom
light plan

Layout and simulation with professional light planning software. PPFD uniformity, photoperiod strategy, connected load, optical distribution, and thermal load all sized against your room. You receive a detailed light plan unique to your operation, not just a fixture count.

03
Deliver

Ship the system
to your facility

Systems ship from our Hamilton, Ontario facility. Fixtures arrive on pallets with the documented light plan and cabling layout. Your licensed electrician wires the system. Our team stays on call for technical questions from delivery through commissioning.

04
Support

Verify, maintain, and stand
behind the system

Post-commissioning measurement to verify your light levels match the plan, seasonal tuning, fixture maintenance, and warranty service across North America. If the deployed fixtures aren’t hitting the predicted PPFD, our team returns to recalibrate and service.
