Why BalensBeam

Even light for lower light level crops

The ParFX BalensBeam delivers PAR uniformly across and deep within the canopy, ideal for lower light level crops and growing areas where mounting heights are limited.

Built for lower light levels

The ideal solution for lower light level crops and growing areas where mounting heights are limited.

Uniform in every plane

Optimized PAR distribution in both the horizontal and vertical planes, for even light across the surface and deep within the canopy.

Minimal shadowing

The linear design fits snugly beneath the track or truss, so the beam casts minimal shadow on the crop.

Five spectrum recipes

Choose from multiple spectral recipes at up to 3.6 µmol/J to match your crop and stage.

Built for lower light levels

The ParFX BalensBeam is the ideal lighting solution for applications where mounting heights are limited. Its linear design is engineered to fit snugly beneath the track or truss, casting minimal shadow on the crop while it lights the canopy below. These fixtures can be easily snapped together nose-to-tail in a daisy-chain configuration for higher light level applications.

The luminaire has a robust, quality construction and a straightforward installation, for years of reliable operation in growing environments.

Recipe spectra

Spectral distribution for the BalensBeam spectral recipes, measured 350 to 800 nm. The red-forward recipes concentrate output in the 600 to 700 nm band for the highest photon efficacy, while recipes with more white and blue broaden the spectrum. The full set of charts is in the spec sheet below.

Values accurate to plus or minus 10 percent. Digital dimming uses the RS485 standard, is compatible with HLP-protocol climate control systems, and dims to 20 percent of maximum output. Power Line Communication dimming requires a P.L. Light Systems transmitter system, with the gateway connecting to your climate computer over Modbus TCP/IP; the climate computer must use HLP. L90B5 at 36,000 hours means no more than 5 percent of luminaires are expected to fall below 90 percent PAR maintenance within 36,000 hours.

BalensBeam FAQ

BalensBeam questions, answered

What is the BalensBeam used for?

The ParFX BalensBeam is a linear top-lighting LED for lower light level crops and growing areas where mounting height is limited. It delivers uniform light across and deep within the canopy, and fixtures can be snapped together nose-to-tail in a daisy-chain configuration for higher light level applications.

How is the light distributed?

The BalensBeam optimizes PAR distribution in both the horizontal and vertical planes for uniform light across the surface and deep into the canopy. Its linear design fits snugly beneath the track or truss to minimize shadowing.

How many spectrum recipes are available?

Five spectral recipes are available, with photon efficacy up to 3.6 micromoles per joule. Your regional sales manager can recommend the right recipe for your crop and stage.

How can the BalensBeam be dimmed?

By default it uses Digital Dim to Off over the RS485 standard, compatible with HLP-protocol climate control systems and dimming to 20 percent of maximum. Power Line Communication dimming is also available, which requires a P.L. Light Systems transmitter system and an HLP-capable climate computer connected over Modbus TCP/IP.
