What P.L. Light Systems helps with.
Three engineering services for commercial growers and the lighting designers who specify into them. Every service starts with your growing area, your crop, and your utility cost. None of them start with a fixture catalog.
Custom Light Plans
Photometric simulation against your growing area. Free for qualified commercial projects.

Photometric response in 1 to 2 business days.
A photometric model of your actual room.
Every Light Plan we deliver is modeled with professional light planning software against your facility dimensions, mounting heights, and crop targets. We don’t drop a generic fixture grid into your building. We model it, balance uniformity against fixture count, and tell you what’s actually buildable on your budget.
Free for qualified commercial projects. Your regional sales manager owns the response and stays with the project through commissioning.
Plan view with fixture positions, mounting heights, and aim angles called out. CAD-compatible.
Per-zone PPFD, average DLI, min/max uniformity ratio. Color heatmap over the canopy.
Connected load, kWh/year at your photoperiod, utility cost at your local rate, payback vs. your current setup.
Every fixture, controller, driver, and accessory needed to build it. With per-line pricing.

Eurosa Farms · 30% productivity gain
LED retrofit on a Canadian floral grower. Shorter crop cycles, better growth, clear ROI.
Phased, not torn down.
Most retrofits don’t need new mounting infrastructure or new wiring. We map your existing HID layout, model the LED replacement zone-by-zone, and phase the migration so you keep producing while the install rolls forward.
- Hybrid bridge. Keep HPS during transition where heat contribution is load-bearing.
- Same brackets, same circuits. Designed to drop into existing infrastructure.
- Zero production downtime. Phased rollout, room-by-room or zone-by-zone.
- DLC-listed for rebates. Most LEDs qualify for utility incentive programs.
The numbers behind the spec.
Every fixture in the LED line is DLC Horticultural Certified, with PPF, efficacy, and spectrum measured by accredited photometric testing. We design every Light Plan with professional light planning software against your room. If the simulation says 1,100 µmol/m²/s at the canopy, it’s because we ran the math against your geometry, not because a marketing sheet said so.
PPF, efficacy, spectrum
DLC Horticultural test data on every LED fixture. PPF, µmol/J efficacy, and full spectral distribution available on the published spec sheets.
Per-zone modeling
Average DLI, min/max ratio, edge-fall-off, photoperiod scenarios. Heatmaps you can sign a build off of.
kWh and kWh/gram
Connected load, annualized energy at your photoperiod, utility cost at your local rate, kWh-per-unit-yield modeling for cost-per-gram operations.
vs. your current setup
Honest payback windows that include rebates, lamp-replacement avoidance, and yield uplift where there’s documented data to support it.
Before you request a plan.
Request a Light Plan. No cost, no obligation. A regional sales manager returns a photometric plan within 1 to 2 business days. The plan includes fixture layout, PPFD and uniformity heatmap, energy and cost model, and full bill of materials.
LEDs offer energy savings, spectral control, reduced heat, low maintenance, and longevity. However, conversion costs roughly four to five times HPS equipment up front. Calculate ROI considering capital expenditure, heating costs in cold climates (where HPS heat is a benefit in winter), and cost per micromole delivered. P.L. Light Systems retrofits are phased so production continues during the migration.
Decision should rely on a carefully considered light plan specific to your application, facility, and crop. Work with a manufacturer that offers multiple technologies (HID, LED, hybrid) so you get an unbiased recommendation rather than a pitch for the one product they sell.
Every Light Plan ships with: fixture layout (CAD-compatible plan view with positions, mounting heights, and aim angles), PPFD and DLI uniformity heatmap with min/max ratio, energy and cost model (connected load, kWh/year at your photoperiod, utility cost at your local rate, payback vs. current setup), and a full bill of materials with per-line pricing. Modeled with professional light planning software against your growing area.
