7ACRES takes pride in growing High End Cannabis that respects each cultivar’s genetic lineage and history. They are committed to providing enthusiasts with hand-crafted cannabis flower that delivers an uncompromised experience. 7ACRES products are crafted by knowledgeable cannabis minds, who share a passion for the product; from seed, to shelf, and into consumers hands. Every effort is made to ensure that each harvest is greater than the last and celebrated with better aroma and flavour.

Located in Kincardine, Ontario, 7ACRES has 300,000 square feet of growing space, with 30 compartments sectioned into 10,000 square foot growing rooms. Managing the climate and growing operations of 7ACRES requires utmost coordination as well as knowing each zone’s individual growing requirements. The plants will only be moved once in their lifecycle – when they move from vegetative to flowering grow rooms, so environmental conditions including lighting, temperature and humidity all need to be consistently monitored and changed based on the environment and growing stage of development.

Candice Lapointe, 7ACRES’ Climate Manager, oversees all aspects of the 7ACRES growing environment.  Her role is crucial to the success of the operation, and she uses software installed with smart sensors throughout the growing operation to manage lighting, air flow, humidity, CO2 and all environmental conditions to optimize their growing environment. Lighting is vital to her work and she sees a remarkable difference in the quality of their cannabis because of it.

Cannabis needs critical amounts of light to enter certain developmental stages, so choosing the right lighting system was imperative to achieve the high-quality cannabis 7ACRES wants to produce.  Artificial lighting is central to the operation, as they are a hybrid greenhouse  –  relying on the luminiares as their main source of light and only supplementing with sunlight as need be. When deciding what system to install they decided on P.L. Light Systems’ NXT2 1000W luminaires with Alpha reflectors for their flowering grow rooms because of their high efficiency and uniformity.  The Alpha Reflector provides consistent light levels with a uniform distribution over the crop ensuring even photosynthesis and growth, which is important when all the plants in a growing zone need to be at the same stage of development. PAR sensors are another important aspect of their environmental control as the luminaires respond when less or more lighting is needed dependent on outdoor light levels.  This gives them ultimate control over PAR levels in the greenhouse and gives exactly the right amount of light to the plant at the right time.

Candice notes a higher terpene accumulation under the NXT2 luminaires, resulting in higher quality products that align with their vision. Just like making a fine wine, 7ACRES also performs value-added practices such as stripping lower flowers to concentrate flavour and terpenes in the remaining flowers near the top of the canopy.   They choose the best cultivars for their environment and it is small actions such as these that help them achieve their greater goals of growing premium cannabis flower.

7ACRES is owned by Supreme Cannabis whose portfolio includes Cambium Plant Sciences, a plant genetics and cultivation IP company; Medigrow Lesotho, a cannabis oil producer located in southern Africa; and a brand partnership and licensing deal with Khalifa Kush Enterprises Canada. Since 2014, the Company has emerged as one of the world’s fastest-growing, premium plant driven-lifestyle companies by effectively deploying capital, with an emphasis on disciplined growth and high-quality products.
